Making Hydration Simple
Hydration percentages change throughout the day. What you eat and drink, the environments you move through, and the demands of your day can all influence how much fluid your body has available.
There are many resources available that explain the different types of dehydration and how foods and daily activities can influence hydration. Before you make any changes to your routine, it’s always best to check with a qualified health professional who knows your medical history.
You should drink when you are thirsty. Unfortunately, sometimes our minds are so focused on other things we ignore or keep putting off responding to that thirst.
A simple way to stay hydrated during the day is to create a habit. To do this, set a gentle phone alarm to go off every hour or two to remind yourself to drink or eat something hydrating (e.g., water, watermelon, cucumber).
Do not skip this alarm. At a minimum, acknowledge the alarm went off and its purpose. At best, do something to add hydration to your system.
